Social trends as strategic challenge for sustainable management
If the state is the owner or even shareholder of a corporation, the corporation has not only to deal with economic questions but also with the justification of a social responsibility in policy. Especially in crisis, the responsibility for social on one hand and economic issues on the other hand seem to lead the corporation into a conflict.
The Thesis will especially focus on companies, which are under the influence of the state, so the question appears: how can the probable conflict between social engagement and profit be solved in a “public” company? The answer to this strategic and communication problem might be the integration of social trends into the strategic management of the company. Approaches like raising the energy efficiency of the buildings could generate higher profits and could also be used in political issues in order to justify the state involvement. Is there a chance to create a win-winsituation, where sustainability has an effort for economy and also policy?
